I have been on a recent weight loss and exercise regime and decided to book a Dexa scan at BodyScan to get an accurate picture of where I am at. The scan was quick and easy and then I spent the rest of the session going through the data with Rob who explained everything very clearly. The scan confirmed pretty much what I was expecting, with much more precision, telling me how much body fat I had, where the fat was located around my body, along with muscle mass too and some info on bone density and visceral fat and this was all compared to other people of my age group so see if I was above or below average in all the various categories. We talked about what my goals were and what kind of exercise regime I do. We agreed that I still should aim to lose more fat but also put on muscle mass. We used the data to come up with a target for how many calories I should be consuming daily. My nutrition is already good with high protein intake and low fat but I was advised not to have too big a calorie deficit as that could interfere with muscle mass. I have paid for two additional scans with the next one in about 4 months time. This has given me motivation to continue on my body composition journey and I am looking forward to the next scan to see how I have progressed just in time for the summer holidays...

I had an appointment today with Kevin at Bodyscan(Bank). It was great working with him to really understand my body composition and he offered so much expert knowledge and advice on how I can achieve my weight loss goals. It was a real eye opener seeing the results and now knowing how my previous weight loss efforts had been more guess-work, as only a scan like this can give accurate numbers to work from. Most importantly I was worried about my visceral fat as my food habits have been really bad for almost 20 years but the scan showed where I stand and I have booked a follow up scan to see my progress in a few months.
