Maintaining a healthy body weight
You may have spent months and months getting to your ideal, healthy body weight, with countless gym sessions under your belt whilst also wilfully pulling yourself away from the sugary treats in the supermarket. You did good!
But, have you ever noticed that no one ever seems to tell you what happens AFTER all that hard work? Yes, reaching that healthy is great but it’s only one side of it. How are you actually suppose to maintain it?
How to keep a healthy weight
A lot of varying factors will affect your weight. Some of these include your age, gender, lifestyle, sleep and even genetics! Unfortunately, some of these factors will have a say in how easy (or hard) you’ll find it to both lose weight and keep it off. There’s no hesitation though: maintaining a healthy weight is essential for your health and wellbeing. It can also help lower your risk of certain diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes.
To help keep you focused on maintaining your current body weight, make sure to keep on track of the following:
Find the right in and out balance
It’s simple: to maintain your body weight, you need to burn the same calories that you eat or drink. These don’t need to be exact each and every day, but as long as you are actively keeping this in mind, you should quickly find the right balance for you and your activity level.
Choose the right foods
Creating meal plans with nutrient-dense foods from different food groups will only have positive effects on maintaining your body weight and overall health. Don’t worry, choosing foods that are high in nutritional value doesn’t mean having to sacrifice your joy of eating.
The old saying of 5 a day should not be ignored either!
Drink plenty of water
Along with exercising regularly and eating a well-balanced diet, drinking water should be at the top of your priority list. Some of the benefits of drinking plenty of water include helping your body burn more calories and being calorie-free itself. Much better than that can of Coke!
