‘Where do I start when planning my weight loss journey?’ has to be one of the most common questions we get asked on a daily basis. Unfortunately there’s no magic potion (i.e detox tea..) that will answer this one. The truth is that getting to a body weight you feel comfortable and confident with will take some work. A healthy weight loss journey will not require you to starve yourself nor will you deprive your body of the nutritional goodness. Our experts are here to show you what makes a good weight loss nutrition plan and certain things you need to keep in mind throughout your journey.

As experts in all things DEXA and nutrition, we thought we’d make counting your calories a lot easier. With our weight loss calorie calculator, we take into account a number of contributing factors and help you calculate certain key metrics, including your resting metabolic rate, your maintenance calories, and how many calories you should be consuming each day to hit your fat-loss target by your goal date.
Weight loss tips to kick start your journey
Once you’ve got this formula down thanks to our weight loss calorie calculator, trimming back a reasonable number of calories and burning off a few more with exercise will be a breeze! For a little extra help, here’s are some tips to bear in mind to get you going:
- Drink plenty of water and cut out the sugary drinks, including fizzy drinks and juices
- Cut back on your added sugars
- Exercise portion control to help with your daily calorie target (tip: use smaller plates!)
- Focus on eating healthier rather than dieting
Don’t forget that daily body weight fluctuations are perfectly normal, and can vary due to some very natural causes including water weight and during your menstrual cycle.
